İncekum: A Guide to Alanya's Golden Beach
İncekum, in the Avsallar region of Alanya, takes its name from its fine sand – "ince kum" literally means "fine sand" in Turkish. It is one of the few places on the Mediterranean coast where a pine forest comes all the way down to a wide, golden beach, and this meeting of green and blue is what makes the area so special.
The beach
The sea at İncekum deepens gradually, which makes it comfortable for swimmers of all ages. On calm summer mornings the water is clear enough to see the sandy bottom, and in the afternoon a light breeze from the sea keeps the shade of the pines pleasantly cool.
The forest
The pine forest behind the beach is a big part of what gives the region its fresh air. Walking under the trees in the early morning or in the evening, with the scent of pine and the sound of the waves, is one of the simplest pleasures of a holiday here.
Sunsets
İncekum is known for its beautiful sunsets. As the sun goes down, the sea turns gold and then deep blue – the perfect moment for a walk along the shore or a quiet drink by the water.
